Losing my house...
I have had a horrendous week... my landlord called to say she is selling our house. We've lived there for 13 years and it really feels like OUR house so it was quite a shock to learn we really don't own it! And to add insult to injury... apparently we've been living in fairy tale land, because we rudely found out that we can't really afford to live in Los Angeles anymore... If we have to move we will end up paying twice the rent we pay now, which will possibly eat into our savings and erode our house down payment money.... so we are in a quandary. In two weeks we will wing our way to Eugene Oregon to see if we can visualize ourselves living there... where one can still afford a house. Eugene is lovely and we'll probably end up liking it there, it's just that most of our friends are here...
sigh...
But on the bright side... hmm wait... I dont' think there is a bright side....
Oh wait... yeah... Eugene is lovely!

Congrats on the new mag, Spindlicity. I noticed that you said your landlord is selling your place in a post dated 6 Oct. About two weeks before that date we got told our landlord was selling up. I've been here nearly 8 years and yeah, this was home. But we found out we can get a mortgage and move into our new (built in 1959) house this weekend. So without the landlord selling up, we'd still be renting! Hope you've sorted your house stuff out - it worked out well for us :-)
Hi Lynne, yeah, it's sort of a weird blessing in disguise... I'm really happy to be moving out of LA (whenever that happens) because I have not enjoyed LA for many years now... I really want to live somewhere green and not arid... and slower, with no traffic and maybe have a place to keep some chickens or a goat... and room for my doglets to run.... So I no longer care that I'm losing my house... it's just a question of which happens first... the house sells or I finish my Ph.D.
